    Yep... Hepatica are not large plants. I have three little Japanese species out
here in a raised bed only about 2 inches in height when in bloom Leaves stay close
to the ground as well. Our two local natives are about 4 to 6 inches on one and
about 8 to 10 on the second. I know of species that a bit over a foot. Perhaps
someone else who has a broader collection will know more.
    There are named hybrids and a few doubles that pop up in catalogs. You just
have to keep an eye out. All without the astronomical prices... not cheap, but you
do not always have to mortgage the home to purchase a Hepatica. Depends upon your
taste, of course. If you must have one with a lineage longer than your own...
