Bobbi,
I am in the same boat as you since I too grew up in the Bay
Area....Miss those
taken forgranted (then)Fuschias.. :-(
However in Heronswoods 2000 cat.he listed a F.magellanica as a zone 6
due to
the fact that he had toured numerous locales , in spring of '98 which
had
successfully wintered it...He does not list it this year but DOES list
a sole
zone 6er F.'Lady Boothby'garden origin.With proper siting and adequate
protection who knows?
This will be the first winter with me for his 2000 offering,too soon
to
predict,but will let you know if it made it soon as I find out for
sure.
