So far, I don't thing anyone has mentioned the fragrance......I have one
that bloomed indoors last winter. It got only moderate light, but the room
has a coal stove and was quite warm. The flowers plumes were only
moderately interesting, but the aroma was heavenly. It perfumed the whole
house, with a fragrance that was sweet and on the heavy side but not at all
cloying. Visitors stopped in their tracks when coming in the front door to
comment on the wonderful smell. Worth growing for that reason alone, if you
have the room.
No repeat so far this year; it got a lot larger over the summer and I had to
winter it in a lower light spot. Also, this winter is quite a lot colder,
and even the coal stove is not keeping things toasty!
Sue, slowly going bonkers with cabin fever, and more snow in the forecast...
