Marilyn,
I grow both the purple and white flowered Mazus...love both of them, but
find I am really taken with the white flowered form -- the flowers are so
incredibly pristine. Mazus will move out swiftly if the soil is moist and
highly organic. I think "moist" is the key here as it also colonizes a
couple of spots in our gravel drive. It will take foot traffic to a
certain degree and does not even seem to mind being driven over
occasionally. But, it's really easy to pull up if it gets too
enthusiastic. I find it is not in favor of really deep shade...it will,
like Ajuga, move out toward more light if you try to put it under a dense
shrub; and it skirts other perennials that cast dense shade. Highly
recommend this little guy...truly charming plants. They root at stem nodes
and seed around mildly.
