Sherryl and List Members:
Thank you for the warm welcome.
I have been gardening in lower Michigan and Ohio for about twenty years,
growing vegetables, ornamentals and herbs. Both my grandmothers were avid
gardeners, although that tendency seems to have skipped a generation before
it got to me. I have always loved the outdoors, living in close proximity to
a variety of growing things.
Growing my own food and plant medicines, as well as enriching my environment
with other plants has been a personal need as long as I can remember. I have
had gardens inside my apartments when that was the only available growing
area, and have finagled myself into groundskeeper/gardener positions for
various landlords.
I am starting a small herb and botanicals business this season, utilizing a
small greenhouse, my own very small yard space, and an additional acre of my
father's property. Since my home space is in the city, I have to maximize
the sunlight I can capture, and try to 'train' some plants to less sun than
they might like. I hope to learn from those who have more knowledge in these
areas.
