just yelled over the back fence here, and Dot says:

leslie we buy fire ant killer , i can't remember which brand works best for
us, i think it is ortho smells AWFUL but it get rid of them. i am allergic
to the bites, so have to use the strongest i can find, we have poured
gasoline on the beds, sometimes that works [for a little while]

I am mortified at the gasoline usage because of the risk of water contaminaton.

Ben says her just poured my box of baking soda on the ant hill and it worked!
So thats where it went!
