Interestingly (to me at least), this is the only Hellebore, so far, that I
have been able to grow from dry purchased seed. I have H.f. 'Wester Flisk'
which I originally grew from seed and which seeds around heavily. It is
one of the species of this genus that is tolerant of dry conditions, and
mine seem quite happy where I originally planted them (in fairly decent
soil - amended, almost under the dripline of a dogwood [C. florida],
receiving rather strong late afternoon sun) as well as where they put
themselves, sometimes in quite dry places amongst rocks and sometimes in
very choice spots in almost a foot of rotted wood chips - deep to light
shade.
