You make a good point. And I certainly do not want to invite a lawsuit,
but does just sharing a negative experience constitute slander? (I'm a
little back on my reading, and have no idea in what context your
admoniton was in response to. I'm asking a more general question.)
Sharing experiences is strongpoint of such a list as this is, IMHO.  I
really don't want to keep quiet any bad experience, in hopes that the
next person may profit from my misfortune. But also, it helps the
companies know that there is a conduit of communication out there, to
keep them on their toes.
