Re: Home Depot

I have a Lowe's and Home Depot near me in Connecticut. Neither carries
much as far as variety of hostas or perenials go. However, for the patient
gardner, Lowe's marks their end of the season stuff down as much as 90% off
and more. I have bought Sum and Substance, Francis Williams, Sun Power, and
a few other hostas and grasses for as little as $0.50 cents per plant in
November and bags of mulch (ripped) for 25 cents - stuff I did not need, but
I could not resist the price. Home Depot, 1 mile down the road, will mark
their end of the year plants down only 50% and what does not sell, they throw
away.
I was in Home Depot a couple of months ago as some worker was clearing
out hundreds of dormant perennials. Upon inquiring, I was told that they
would not sell them to me or anybody else for any less than the marked price
(50% off) and that they were going to the dumpster. I am not sure if that
was Home Depot's policy, or just a manager with a bug up his....nevermind.

Joe, Connecticut.
