Hi Kathy--some things that have worked for me that haven't been mentioned:
ajuga, arisaema, bergenia, dodecatheon jeffreyi, euonymus fortunei,
hepatica, jeffersonia, lamiastrum galeobdolon, lamium, lunaria annua,
pachysandra, pinellia pedastisecta, sanguinaria, tradescantia, tricyrtis,
trillium, vinca. You can try any of these genera to see how they work for
you. Most of the genera have several varieties that should be OK. There are
a number of things that I am trying but I'll need to see how they do this
year before suggesting them to others (I've killed a lot of plants in my
day).
