Hi, Cindy. I added about a 2" layer at the start of the second year, along
with gypsum and an organic fertilizer I bought mail-order. The previous
fall I had mixed in bone meal, after the plants had died back, then mulched
with leaves. That second year saw a remarkable improvement, and the third
year was better yet.
