Re: nostalgia is overrated

Maybe they're struggling young artists trying to get a foothold?? Or people
like us who'd rather garden but need to make a living, in this case
scratching by as they can? I'll doubt they're rascal scions. As you note,
there is a lot of competition in the gardening magazine world, which may be
why most of them are so "Betty Homemaker": cute without much substance. So
hey, Gene, take a compliment, have yo'self a smile, and bow; whatever else
gives you pleasure is up to you. :-)

My favorite popular magazine is Fine Gardening. Anyone have one they like
better (...leaving out dedicated journals like the Hosta Journal)? Or, what
are some excellent journals we might be interested in?

Hello Bobbi,
I received a free copy of the Weedpatch Gazette a while back. It is,
indeed,
very localized, but a fairly decent newsletter. At least there is a few
people
left in the publishing world with a sense of humor. I think the newsletter
is
worth a read. I already subscribe to too many magazines, so I passed on
subscribing.
Also they wanted me to contribute an article I had written and they
liked for
publication. Wanted me to purchase advertising space, to subscribe... but
wanted
the article for free. That part was not particularly professional and a bit
insulting to any resemblance of intelligence I may have remaining.
