Well, I don't know if "supposed to" is actually correct, but mine
tend to.  Don't know what it does in the wild.  I wonder if you just
got a bum plant as mine are lovely creatures...was just admiring
almost open blooms today, happy that they seem to have survived our
sudden temperature drop.
