I know you were looking for flowering shrubs....but I think you might enjoy a
deciduous holly like Winter Gold.  In fall and most of the winter it is
literally covered with apricot colored berries (Iknow..it says gold..but)
It is lovely in my garden and seems to be easily pruned to a compact plant.
