Any of you citizens of the USA who live near the Canadian border can
just pop over and get a postal money order from any postal outlet -
they're in grocery stores, drug stores, etc., one per neighbourhood.
Costs a couple of bucks. ($2.50 to Fiji, $3.50 to US, $4.50 to UK, $5
to most other places)
The post office was used as a savings bank in many countries of the
British Empire, so postal money orders are very commonly used in the
UK, Canada, etc. When I worked in New Zealand in the 60s, my savings
account was at the post office. I never went into a bank.
For small amounts, I just send cash. I always have some US bills in
my sock drawer, and UK 5 pound notes (the smallest UK paper money)
are easy to get at any bank here. I can't remember how I paid for
the hellebore seeds last year.
