Re: [PRIMROSES] Astilbe

I am in zone 4 in upstate NY and have had good results with astilbe.  My
varieties are  A. chinesis "Visions"  and A. "Peach Blossom" and"Federsee",
which came up like a medium sized shrub its' second year.  They are heavy
feeders and don't like to be thirsty, so I mix a LOT of peat into the sandy
soil and then mulch them heavily with more peat.  They can take sun, but need
even more water then.
