[SHADEGARDENS] introdution

Hi to all of you!

My name is Jean Bawden, and I garden in Madison, Wisconsin on a city lot. I
adore plants of all sorts from hemerocallis to epimediums; from drabas to
primulas. I guess I would call myself a collector of plants; I want one of
most everything. I just retired early from teaching to go to work full-time
for a perennial nursery that carries about 2500 varieties of plants. This
means that I get to play with plants 18 hours a day.....and sometimes it's
even longer than that!

My garden has both sun and shade areas, so I get to experiment with all
sorts of plants for either area. I am hybridizing lilies and daylilies so
far, but I would love to experiment with thalictrum......that is such a
beautiful genus. My favorite shade plants are Aruncus dioicus 'Kneiffii',
Gillenia trifoliata, and the thalictrums and aconitums. I've heard that the
information is monumental on this list, and I'm really looking forward to
listening to all of youl. Jean Bawden-Madison, Wi zone 4/5
