Thompson and Morgan is offering an Impatiens oncidiodes, a yellow one
that seems to be similar to Burpee's African orchid types. I'm trying
to convince myself that they didn't just print a copy of a photo of
Oncidium... sure looks so to this pair of tired taxonomic eyes.
I've played with several species of Impatiens, and grown the standard
garden impatiens from seed for many years. The garden impatiens
do need a heat mat for decent germination. Haven't seen the
Burpee instructions, so I can't tell you if they might be "real".
Each Impatiens species does have its own characteristics, including
sun tolerance. Me, I'd probably put a couple of plants on the north
and a couple where they get more light and evaluate both locations
if I didn't know *anything* about the species.
