ago. It resides next to a Clematis 'Henryii' and a ribes. I don't do a
thing to it, or the area that it grows in. The soil is good, if a bit
heavy, and remains moist year round. It has not proven to be invasive.
The tovara we have at the nursery is not 'Painters P.', but is listed in
one of my references as Polygonum virg. and is more attractive, in my
opinion. We sold a lot of it this season, and never had a single
customer know what it was.

Diana,
I am resigned to not know exactly what I have and will keep a careful eye on
this plant. Mine looks exactly like that Ken Druse photo which is idenitified
as Tovara virginiana "Variegata" . That, in your kinder climate, you have had
no explosion of growth is good news as I gave a second one to my gardening pal
up the road and feel I ought to warn him. I am keeping mine.

No, it isn't.
Fallopia is Polegonum.
Solomon's Seal is Polygonatum.
A little confusion here with polygonum and polygonatum, Diane is correct. The
Solomon's Seals are all desirable plants as far as I know.
