Greetings All,
All the recent talk about deer problems has prompted me to mention a,
(new?), product that we received at a garden center I work at part-time
during the busy season. The product is called "Bobbex" and is labeled as
being a plant growth stimulant made from commonplace natural and recycled
materials. It is useful on ornamental plants and supplies a wide range of
trace elements, as well as encouraging microbial activity. It is also
reported to be an excellent for discouraging browsing by deer. It is
applied as a foliar spray and the label states that it won't wash off, is
environmentally compatible and is non-contaminating to aquatic life.
The above information is taken mostly form the label and a brochure put out
by the company. I am no way vouching for the effectiveness of Bobbex, but
simply bring it to the attention of those whose gardens are troubled by
deer. I fortunately haven't any problems with Bambi & family, but am
planning on trying it for its other purpose.
An excellent wholesale grower of a wide range of woody plants in
Connecticut uses it extensively and claims that it is quite effective. I
don't know about the deer part, but his plants are always top-notch and
very healthy.
