Dear Sombreros,

Jean Bawden mentions Lamium 'White Nancy' as being one of her favorites. I
have lots of it under my Thuja and it thrives even though the ground under
the Western Red Cedar is quite dry. Yet, in spite of this dryness, milk drop
slugs eat it so that the Lamium looks pretty ratty by mid summer. Of course
any hostas that are near the White Nancy get holes in them, too including
the relatively thick substanced Hosta 'Gold Edger'. I have the theory that
Lamium 'White Nancy' is one of those plants that attract slugs. Anybody out
there with similar experience? Then there is that easy to grow Arisaema
ringens. Since slugs don't like Arisaemas they stay away leaving hostas near
them intact.
