(about Ajugas, BG = 'Burgandy Glow', & BB = 'Bronze Beauty')
<< If you want a more vigorous pink cultivar, try 'Pink
Silver'...it's better than BG. I've had BG for about 4 years, and
admittedly, it was a throwaway from work at the end of the season
(November), but it is now only the size of two dinner plates....so it is not
one to worry about. BB, on the other hand, is quite vigorous...but not
invasive in my dry, north shade. If it were in a fortuitous site, I think it
might be a problem. It is fighting with Waldestinia and Lamium 'White
Nancy'....and it's not winning...but it's not losing either. White Nancy is
one of my favorite ground covers. Jean Bawden-Madison, Wi >>
Hi Jean,
This is very helpful to me, I'm planting in dry shade too. I really value
info on how plants grow/compete with each other (ex: your Ajuga 'Bronze
Beauty', Waldestinia and Lamium 'White Nancy') It gives me a better idea of
how to combine them than just a descr of individual plants.
My Lamium 'White Nancy' and also 'Beacon Silver' are not increasing as fast
as I'd like them to, still dry shade but in different part of yard. 'Beacon
Silver' seems a little stronger than 'White Nancy' which dies back a little
over winter in my yard. I have both these interplanted to form a patchwork of
delicate pink and white flowers above their pretty folliage. I really like
both of them too.
