Having spent an afternoon watching hummingbirds returning again and again
to a red plastic flower, I can't believe that pollen is the answer. There
is no pollen in the feeders, and they certainly get sugar solutions from
them. I think they are very sensitive to color. Possibly they are aware of
differences we don't see.
