Favorite Shade Ground covers/ Pulmonarias

Hi Claire & All,
I have quite a few Lungworts scattered throughout the garden.... but. I
have kept all of mine up on the ridge where it is open shade, lightly
mulched and has excellent wind circulation. I have never had (knock on
wood) mildew or any other problem with the Pulmonarias. Ms. Moon and
several other selections that are supposed to be prone to mildew have done
just fine. Ms. Moon and Sissinghurst White have Phlox stolonifera Home
Fires weaving tightly through all with its bright pink blooms and still no
mildew.
My suggestion would be to try a slightly more open spot with good air
circulation and keep them slightly moist but well drained. Don't mulch up
on the crown of the plants.. just in the area around them.
