Hi Janet & Kay,
I think the biggest problem is not enough sun or light-- We can grow them in
full sun out here, but we can not let them dry out. Stock plants in the
ground fair well for a good number of years before they need to be divided,
but containerized plants need to be divided in mid-summer as they become
root bound and can`t get enough water to them.
A. 'Perkeo's' flowers are not terribly outstanding but it the foliage is
super. An improved crispa is 'Lilliput'---- the foliage is a darker green
and the light salmon pink flowers are much fuller and larger--- a real showy
little plant. Both these plants are great potted plants. They don`t spread
in the ground like 'Pumila' does.
