Welcome

Thank you for the welcome. One question and then a description of my
garden. A local nursery is closing their doors and selling all their
plant material at very good prices. They have 3 gallon size hostas,
ferns, and astibles. We have had several nights of below freezing
temperatures and these plants are in very sad shape. Because these
plants are in pots, will they come back?

I have been lurking for a while and it has taken me quite some time to
post a message describing my garden. In March 97, my husband and I
purchased a house and the thing that really sold me on the property was
the woodland yard and all the potential that it had. We right away got
busy planning and planting. It was a whole new world to us because of
all the mature oak and hickory trees and we had no experience with shade
gardening. Our backyard leads directly into a wooded area with natural
limestone rock formations. The previous owners tried desperately to
grow grass and needless to say we have found it to be hopeless. We have
added beds full of shade loving plants, rock walls, borders and paths.
Most of the plants were added last summer so I have my fingers crossed
to see what will be back. We used quite a variety of hostas, heuchera,
astibles, ornamental grasses (carex and hakonechola), tiariella, azalea,
pieris, ferns, epimedium, pulmonaria, and lots more.

Thanks,
Jennifer (AL-zone 7)
