The New Guy

Hello, Everyone!

I'm pleased to be joining this list and look forward to learning and
sharing with all of you.  If there is such a thing, I'd characterize myself
as an intermediate gardener.  My garden is located in Madison, Wisconsin.
I've only been at it seriously for about ten years, and shade is by
necessity my main area of interest.  I also dabble  in propagation.

Last summer I launched a little, personal web page devoted to shade
gardening that, for the moment, is primarily a plant list with some images
of my own plants.  If you're interested, the URL is

expand it in 1999 to include many more of my favorite plants and new
sections on gardening techniques.

I'm always on the lookout for new plants to try in my zone 5A garden.
Right now I'm chasing down sources of hellebores, unusual ferns and
terrestrial orchids.
