Hi Group,
Clyde, is the plant you saw maybe H. argutifolius 'Janet Starnes', a medium
green colored leaf with creamy-white speckled foliage. We obtained one from
Trans-Pacific Nursery out of Oregon last year at The Seattle Flower and
Garden Show. Herronswood lists it and another H. argutifolius 'Pacific
Frost' --Leaves marbled in creamy-white.
We have H. orientalis (different color forms), H. foetidus and H.
argutifolius in bloom or bud now.
We are overjoyed to have been able to recently import Helleborus.
thibetanus from China--It is like H. orientatlis but is a most distinctive
species. Leaves are pedately divided with seven divisions, edges with
saw-like teeth. They grow rapidly once the flower stems are well developed
but die down in mid-summer. Flowers should be 2-21/2" in diameter. They
are opening white, then are to go pink with darker veins and finally to
green. We will have enough to offer later this year.
