Re: Epimedium/ now Hellebores
hi Marilyn,
My seeds that I planted 5 years ago for the H. hybridus finally bloomed this
season and got me fired up on the smoky blue / slate colors. (Grand total of 3
seeds and 3 plants.. two of which bloomed) So... ordered a couple more of those.
Also on hand are a few of the H. nigers that are supposed to bloom in
November/December instead of the usual February / March. Waiting to be planted is
the new H. purpurascens called "Red Power". Already have the species in the garden
for some years now. Next on line are some hybrids from two breeders.. want to try
the Royal Heritage line from John Elsley and "Winter Joy Bouquet" line from Terry
Hatch.
Finally got out the wallet and tore away the webs, blew out the dust and
sprang for 3 each of the fully doubles. Red, blue/black and yellow. Those will not
be in until October.
Thinking of primulas to weave in between for a start. Also the new Painted
fern called "Ursla's Red" Still dreaming of what else I can fit in with them for
color at the bloom time and then something to contrast with the foliage of the
Hellebores.
