Hello everyone - I just purchased a Persian Shield at Home Depot, and I was
wondering if any of you have grown this plant, and can you offer any tips?
Thank You >>
Cajun:
I've been growing Strobilianthos dyeranus, Persian Shield in my shade garden
for about 3 years now. It's a beautiful foliage plant adding wonderful
foliage contrast to my shade garden with it's large tropical leaves and the
color - beautiful color.
I have discovered that during times like these (100+ degrees) it does not
like to receive any direct sun at all and it does not like to dry out. I
have to water mine daily. You know how some plants can get dry and wilt -
then you water them and they recover just fine...well, in my experience with
this plant is that it doesn't recover from being too dry.
I also grow this plant as an annual, taking fall cuttings for the spring.
