Hi; years ago, I lived south of Dallas/Ft. Worth. The worst problem I had trying
to grow hostas was the dry wind howling in from the desert during part of the year
- it would dry a hosta up very quickly. Providing shade, a screen against the
wind, and misting daily during the windy season kept my hostas (H. plantaginea)
alive. Naturally, one would not want a large hosta garden with this care
required. I planted mine amid grasses and native plants that helped keep a humid
local environment.
Is it possible to over-winter tree ferns indoors? If so, how, and which species
do best? Thanks.
