Fern

Polypody ferns grow out of the sides of riverbanks here, where they would have to be
tolerant not only of wet or boggy conditions, but also would be subject to periodically
being completely immersed for days or weeks at a time. I know there are many plants
that can live with the roots and base in water-logged soil, and even several inches of
water , as long as they are not completely covered. I suspect many ferns fall into that
category, but polypodies can survive underwater in nature, so why not in your garden.
