Woodchips from utilities etc can be used without any worries if you first compost it. To speed up composting to a short 2-3 months add manure and or some other old compost with some 20-20-20. Or just leave the pile sitting for a year. On another note Mr Bill, lic plate hosta fromOntario, sometime ago, I read how to increase viable eyes in Hosta by spraying with some phyto hormone, which one at what concentration and timing?? George Mannoe.
