After 14 years of doing mail-order business with this nursery, I am no longer
a customer. Two years ago I placed an order for $700. and something, and
from that order have three perennials that lived. At the time of delivery,
it looked as though five or six plants might make it. This was an order of
perennials only, so a number of plants were involved. The entire order had
been jammed into one box. Everything was squashed and broken down or off. A
number of plants only had a few dried up stems showing. I called the nursery
immediately and was put through to the wife of the owner. She acknowledged
that new people were doing the packing and mailing and that a few problems
had arose. Then, she wanted to know if I had checked the roots!!! Excuse
me. Even a novice knows a one year old plant without a crown and leaves of
some sort does not make a living plant. After telling her this, she said the
horticulturist would get back with me. No such call came, so I phoned again.
This time no one was around to take my call; left a message. Within the
same week I called again, and once more I was unable to speak with someone in
charge. Left a second message. Meanwhile, I'm watering a bizillion little
pots of "soil" just in case. Such a distasteful experience for me as I would
have thought my years of buying from this nursery would have meant something.
When the catalog came this spring, it went into the trash without being
opened.
