Re: flooding and ferns

        Nancy, I know that, in addition to the royal fern, the cinnamon fern
and the sensitive fern can take very wet periods and, in fact, enjoy it.
The ostrich can take more dryness and sun than the others, but I don't know
about moisture.  We once saw some royals and cinnamon (maybe interrupted
fern too, as I recall) growing in a natural bog and they were enormous and
gorgeous! (which reminds me ... I've GOT to get more leaf mold and peat moss
and mulch on my fern bed under the maple to conserve moisture.  The water
bill was be horrendous this month!)
