Re: mailorder ferns

After years of no success with mailorder maidenhair ferns, I finally got
lucky with one from Plant Delights, Tony Avent's excellent nursery in
North Carolina. I have ordered from him 3 times, and gotten a wide range
of plant material (if you'll forgive that term) and everything has
thrived. Even the maidenhair is now on its second year and looking good.
Would be even better had one of the rabbits not mowed it down earlier in
the season, but it has bounced back from that disaster.

Prior to that I had ordered maidenhairs from every mailorder nursery you
can think of from White Flower Farm on down. I had success with many other
plants, but NEVER with this fern until now. I don't know why people say
they are easy.
