Re: Heucheras on clearance sale
Joe, if I'm not mistaken, you are in the New Orleans area, right? If
so, I hate to burst your bubble, but I doubt you will have much success
with Heucheras there. I live in Tallahassee, and I ignored the warnings
in Sunset and other publications, that Heucheras could not be grown
along the Gulf Coast South. I bought dozens of different species and
cultivars, including of course the very common 'Palace Purple'. None of
them lasted through more than one summer before they eventually wasted
away. The only one I still have is a Heucherella (Heuchera-Tiarella
cross generic hybrid) that is barely surviving after 4 years in my
garden. They are beautiful plants, but I have finally given up on them
here.
