Re: Night-blooming cereus

Hi, Jim, Virginia, et al.,

My cactus has no spines. The leaves are flat. I take it that all
white-flowering cacti bloom at night? Intg. I didn't know that. I did
wander into a shadehouse or greenhouse at my fave local nursery and see a
bunch of cacti hanging from the roof that looked just like mine, only they
weren't n-b cereus, they were other kinds of flowering cactus.

I am wondering if both kinds of n-b cereus have the more or less tasty
fruit. Thanks for that info, Virginia. I'll definitely try it. No I have
no contact with the Walkers. I am not a cactus nut in general. In fact I
know almot nothing about them, although I do grow Xmas cactus (Is that a
true cactus?). I simply asked for this plant when its owner grew tired of
it and put it outdoors to die. (Sob!) A hard freeze was predicted for that
night and I had to do something! It sure is a mess though. I wish I knew
how to prune it so that it looked halfway neat and tidy. Any tips will be
welcome.
