I have a shade related question: Will Hosta grow well under a black walnut
tree? I have two or three black walnuts and a hickory, under which I'm
thinking of setting up some shady plant beds, mainly Hosta. Daylilies grow
fine under black walnuts, by the way.

Mine do well under the three trees I have, the only problems I have are do to
the fact that I move a lot plants around in the fall and the pesky red
squirrels like to dig every thing that is newly planted up -- so they can hide or
find a hidden walnut.
Did I mention that they sound like rattlesnakes up there in them trees, the
red squirrels that is-not the trees them selves.
