I am in zone 4 and C. lutea grows and seeds here generously. The early
plantings did not do at as well until I discovered, lutea wants water, lots of water
and at the same time drainage.  So pour a can of water on the plants once or
twice a week and keep from boggy ground. In zone 4,it can flourish in full
sun, you might want more shade.  Seedlings appear around the end middle of June
here and if you are not too busy scrape them off before those ropey roots form
to control the number of plants you want.
