What I am hearing is that foliar nematodes are ubiquitous. If I was a
predator of nematodes, I would be thrilled; a stable food supply.
As an lay ecologist, i reason that "If nematodes are ubiquitous, then
they are a "good" part of the food chain." When nematodes become a
problem, it is a problem that I created in my garden. What can I do
differently to better manage the damage to leaves.
Avoid watering foliage, and preferentially water soil surface or use
drip irrigation?
Resistant cultivars or species?
Apply predators? Are Gardens Alive nematodes labeled/listed as
effective for foliar nematodes, or soil active stage of same nematodes?
Change to a different type of mulch?
Who/What are predacious on foliar nematodes?
What can we do to facilitate naturally active predators?
With tree roots and soil-borne nematodes, one nematode predator is a
fungus. Don't know name, but have seen a photomicrograph of circular
part of fungus that entraps and then digests nematode.
Q. Are foliar nematodes just soil-borne nematodes that hide out in
leaves to avoid predation?

Of the many plants they are found in, do they all show the symptoms in
the
leaves if nematodes are present? I have a feeling you're going to tell
me some
of the host plants do not show symptoms even though they have and can
carry
them.
