Hello Marge,
Sorry to hear about loosing a mother tuber on the Arisaema. The one you
have is one of the most beautiful of the bunch. I sounds from your
description you have some life left in the mush. The only thing I may have
done different was to try and trim away as much of the mush as possible to
the firm part to the tuber and then sprinkle with rooting hormone and anti
fungal powder and keep it just a bit on the dry side in a pot until it
recovers.
I had one of my three mature tubers of A. jacquemontii delay emerging this
spring. when it did come up the original mature bloom stalk was missing,
but five new small stems arose. I don't plan on digging it up to look, but
my guess is the original bulb split and the center original mature tuber
rotted out.
Just a guess... you probably still have a start of the tuber and it will
recover.
