Diane and Gene, belated thanks for the reply on the offsets - I am pretty
far behind reading the list. I was horrified yesterday when I wandered
down to check out my A. candisissimum and found the leaf laying on the
ground, the stem severed and shredded and mushy - looks like slug work to
me and this occurred within a two day span as the last time I checked it,
it was doing just fine. Because of the mushy ends on the stem, I was
worried about total rot so I dug up the corm and found it mostly mushy
except for one spot from which a small reddish nose was protruding, so I
replanted it. Talk about sickening! I am hoping that a small offset was
trying to develop since I have read that the old corms get sort of mushy -
but after bloom. Any words of wisdom on this one?
