In 1998 I bought two of these very expensive "exclusive Wayside
introduction" variegated Jacob's ladder. They are prospering in a
partial shade garden between my house and garage, under a small Japanese
maple that was planted at the same time.
This year I ordered two more (thr price has gone down, finally) and put
them in another new garden in the circle in front of my house. They
were planted June 15 in a newly prepared bed with lots of mushroom
compost dug in. One has died and the other is going fast.
There are quite a few possible reasons, I think.
(1) The weather has been very hot
(2) Because I have new sod nearby, I have watered daily - perhaps
too much
(3) It gets more sun than I thought it would - perhaps 4-5 hours
per day.
There are probably many other possible reasons, but I would love to know
if anyone has any ideas about how I can save the one I have left there
before it goes entirely.
My thanks for the help I know will be forthcoming.
