Re: [SG] Rain Dances

Gene and others troubled over no rain--

I have the solution to your rain problems---wash your car, go on a picnic, go
on a day of golf or plan a weekend camping trip. Here is SE Texas any of
these usually work when rain is needed.

Actually - I do hope ya'll get the rain needed soon. I've been gardening for
four seasons and this is the first summer I haven't been in the middle of a
90 day drought, so I have experienced your frustrations. One of my solutions
last year was to prune my larger plants by 1/3 and water less often but very
deeply. I did sacrifice blooms but the plants benefited from not having to
use the energy to bloom. They all thanked me at the end of summer by putting
on one great show before fall. It is ironic how the plants can and will
adjust. My garden this year is use to a daily douche of rain and if it
doesn't get a that little drink every two days everything wilts. Last year I
could go a full 10 days between waterings.

Hang in there guys---it will get better :o)

Good time to flip through those catalogs for hopeful purchases and/or to find
sources for those plants that you've always wanted.

Happy Gardening to you all.
