That is a lot of Goat's Beard. A mature stand of this one is about four to six
feet high and 3 to 4 feet across with good soil and moisture. They are in bloom
out here in the nursery right now... look like Astilbe on steroids to me... there
are also dwarf to look into that only get less than a foot high.
Check around behind and beneath the existing foliage of the other plants.
Surely you have some of the 8 remaining. Goat's Beard is not a difficult plant...
one of our natives and very adaptable.
Marge was right about the small plants from the on the nurseries. They are
about the size I get here wholesale. I place them in a larger pot and grow them on
for one to two years before I can sell them in 5 pint pots (six inch square), or
plant them in my garden.
