Re: A Willow Question

Thanks to Janet and everyone who wrote to help. Mystery solved. For those
not inclined to look it up on the internet, I have Heronswood's catalog,
and the description of Salix integra 'Hakuro Nishiki'--priced at $8--reads
"An odd creature, with brilliant white and pink leaves, seemingly not
enough "green stuff" to even grow, yet grow it does, producing a low,
mounded shrub in a relatively short period of time. Full sun best, in
moist or well-watered soil." By the way, he says it is zone 4. If the
Heronswood price seems cheap, remember that to the midwest and east coast
he sticks on a 40 or 50% shipping charge. But he has a great catalog for
lovers of horticulture. Many unusual things. I have been pleased with the
plants I've received from him over the years.

Another friend has informed me that Forest Farm also carries it. It too is
a great nursery for shrubs and trees, unfortunately also on the west coast
with high shipping charges to the east. Still another friend has mentioned
that they think Wayside Gardens also carries it. I don't have that catalog
and can't check. Wonder what they charge?
