I don't think so, Susan...while I have them in very deep shade, also
have some that get a few hours of sun and they seem to like it - soil
moisture is more important, I think.  In this case, do verily believe
it's the size of the plants and their surrounding company.

That said, don't think they are plants for full sun, but Margot said
she had hosta in that bed and I think Aruncus ought to grow anywhere
a hosta will.
