Hi!
Bobbie here in Mass. zone 6.5
I am not a collector...yet!
My favorite two are CAN CAN and VELVET NIGHT.
CC has a lot of ruffles and matt finished on the top, dark with veins, but
also shows the shinier side of deep raspberry coloring on the underside the
foliage.
VN is again matt finished, veined with hazing over burgandy foliage. Both
flower, but don't eventhink that the flower or either really count!
I listened to Dan Heim in Boston this past winter. He is from Terra Nova.
I will see if I can find some notes. He showed slides and talked about the
breeding programs of both pulmanarias and heucheras. What he looks for in
breeding and even the crosses making heucherellas!
One thing I remember is shorter stockier scapes with more flowers and
flowers that bloom for a longer period of time.
And pulmanarias that don't mildew!
My wholesaler is now stocking up on these with my teasing and begging! Got
a few last year, some this year that have not shown up yet in his selling
beds, and I saw the list for next year. FINALLY!
;-)
