Claire I'm reading my mail backwards(most recent to backards)LOL
So wanted to comment about Aquiliegia and standing water.
I have my A. canadensis in a spot that sometimes doesn't drain well.
Plus this is clay soil.
Aquiliegia canadensis is not affected

I posted a bit a go about this too but did not say that it is the A.canadensis
that is effected in my garden. Last year I had only added 1 lone dwarf
dark purple columbine. Not sure if it was effected or not due to it being
in a different part of the yard. This year I added a huge hybrid that
is a dusky pink. Can't recall what the owner called it. I bought it at
a private sale. So I will watch and see if I have the leaf miner trouble
with this one. This one is also in the sunny part of my yard. The low
poor draining spot is in shade. I'm not sure where the original columbine
plant started but it has planted itself in both the sunny and shady parts
of the yard. I love plants like that. But I'm getting tired of A. canadensis
color and love all of the other colors out there.LOL
